Equine Graduate Programme

Our Equine Graduate Programme will prepare your graduates for a fulfilling career as an ambulatory equine vet. This programme is run in partnership with XLVets. All of our graduate programmes start and end with our Graduate Get Together event in September.

Thriving in First Opinion Practice

This module equips graduates with skills and knowledge that will support their transition from graduation to equine practice. Graduates will explore the fundamentals of pharmacology and practice finance, refine their driving skills with a unique driving experience, and participate in workshops on dystocia, foaling and reproduction.

Fundamentals of Equine Practice

In this module, graduates will take a practical approach to managing common and uncommon equine medical cases, equipping them with the skills and knowledge to thrive in practice. This module also includes a practical day of dentistry including examination techniques, equipment overview, and an anatomy and physiology workshop.

Clinical Essentials

In this module, graduates will explore the clinicians’ role in the management of an infectious disease outbreak with an emphasis on Strangles, EHV and Influenza. Graduates will also develop their understanding of pathology in the diagnostic process. The module will conclude with a practical workshop on imaging and ocular emergencies.

Emergency Case Management

This module will ensure that graduates are equipped with the clinical decision-making skills to save lives and avoid harm. Graduates will be supported to develop a toolkit to use in out-of-hours situations through interactive clinical discussions and practical workshops. Topics include colic management, lameness, laminitis and wound care.
